OJSC Investment and Financing Company Samotlor-Invest, a part of FiBr Group (Tomsk), becomes a listing agent of the MICEX IGC Sector



The open joint-stock Investment and Financing Company Samotlor-Invest (OJSC IFC Samotlor-Invest) was established in December 1993 in Nizhnevartovsk (Khanty-Mansi autonomous region Yugra, Tyumen region).

In 2006 owners of OJSC IFC Samotlor-Invest founded the Innovation management company FiBr (OJSC IMC FiBr) in order to invest in innovation-based business projects. Thus the company has supported the policy of the Tomsk Government in support of small technology-driven business development and today its main activity is financing of innovation-based companies and development of innovation infrastructure for Tomsk and the rest of Siberia.

FiBr Group comprises:

·         OJSC IMC FiBr (Tomsk), a managing company;

·         OJSC IFC Samotlor-Invest (Nizhnevartovsk), an investment fund,

and aims to develop a system for attracting private financing into high-tech innovation-based business within Tomsk and Siberia as the target region.

Tomsk is the focus of attention of such institutions as FASIE, Russian Venture Company, Rusnano and other bodies which support and finance high-tech business in Russia. It’s noteworthy that Tomsk maintains cooperation with China (Shenyang, Liaoning province) and Taiwan thus attracting investments from the Asia-Pacific region.

Due to its innovation business-projects Tomsk is also in the spotlight of major direct and venture investment funds. Tomsk was one of the three Russian cities (alongside Moscow and Kazan) selected to present some of its best businesses within the framework of the Russian Tech Tour 2009.

Tomsk as well as the whole Siberia needs to attract investments from the investor society in order to form and develop businesses which would have the potential to become clients of the MICEX IGC Sector.

and a number of associated expansion companies have accumulated unique experience in corporate financing, consulting in management, legal matters, taxation and audit, PR-assistance, finance product marketing, analytical support for issuers (stock issue for 8 OJSC and CJSC companies).

Another important sphere of activity is the company’s involvement in the BIT Siberia (Business of Innovation and Technology) infrastructure project as an organizer and supervisor. BIT Siberia is a regional part of the national BIT competition, an instrument for bringing out and development of innovation-drive seed-companies. BIT Siberia has enlisted support from such companies as the Russian Venture Company, MICEX Stock Exchange, Microsoft Russia, OJSC IFC Samotlor-Invest, Siberian Federal University (Krasnoyarsk), Governments of Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and Altai region.

In 2008 the sTs (Simple Trade Solution) team led by Dmitry Klimenko, a third-year student of Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radio-electronics, has became the winner in BIT Siberia 2008 and a runner-up in BIT 2008 in Moscow. The team received an invitation certificate from Intel to participate in the International Business-plan Competition (IBTEC 2008) in Berkley University (California, USA) in November 2008. Today Klimenko’s company has received investment and is active in the USA.

In 2009 the Mechatronica-Pro (OJSC R&D Mechatronica-Pro) team has entered the BIT Siberia 2009 competition. The team has undergone training within the Open educational program of the competition and, after winning in Tomsk, was invited to participate in the national Bit 2009 in Moscow. In Moscow Mechatronca has become the first regional team in history of the competition to win the first prize. The project later competed for the right to present during the session of the European Tech Tour Association in Russia (Russian Tech Tour 2009) and was one of the 24 companies (selected out of 257 applicants) to be allowed to do so.

Currently Samotlor-Invest holds negotiations with a number of companies which have the potential to enter the MICEX IGC Sector. One of these companies is Elecard (Tomsk) which has entered into an agreement with the MICEX Stock Exchange in September 2009.
